OT-1 Costa Del Sol – A Brief History

There have, of course, been RT/OT tablers living in various parts of Spain for years, often participating in English 41 Clubs. Now, for the first time, an official club managed by OTSF is being established in Spain.

OT-1 began when Tuomo had a farewell party at the port of Fuengirola, likely in 2018. Tapsa (Tapani Kangasniemi, OT-34 Seinäjoki) happened to be walking near the beach and noticed the activity, suspecting it to be RT-related. That’s how the introductions happened, and soon Risse Lundius (Hanko) Tuomo, Tapsa, and Antti Pesonen (from Jyväskylä) began meeting up. Miska Pekkola (Forssa) joined the group quite quickly as well.

The idea to found an official club was born during a visit to a meeting in Gibraltar, and that’s when Makku (Markus Dahlqvist) joined to help formalize the club. The goal was to establish an official regional club and aim for the OT-1 number on the Costa del Sol.
